Why Blueprint Partners chose Anna Valley for The Celebrate Success Awards
The Prince’s Trust is a charity founded by HRH The Prince of Wales to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people in the UK. Since 1976, The Trust has supported more than 825 000 young people through free programmes that give them the practical and financial support to develop key skills and stabilise their lives. The Celebrate Success Awards are the highlight of the charity’s year – honouring the participants’ achievements with eleven regional awards ceremonies across the country culminating in the VIP national final event in London.
Blueprint Partners were initially asked to run the 2015 awards final at the Odeon Leicester Square and, following the success of that event, were commissioned to manage both the regional and national events in 2016 and 2017. Each year they’ve relied on Anna Valley to help realise their creative vision for video display at the national finals.
“We have a very strong working relationship with Anna Valley. We’ve worked with the Anna Valley team on a number of projects and have always found them to be flexible to our needs and supportive of our ideas. Anna Valley often fit in as an extension of our production department, and so they were a natural choice for this event.”

The audio visual content is critical to the success of the national award ceremonies because each nominee’s back-story is presented through video. Blueprint and Anna Valley needed to ensure that every one of the 2000 guests at the London Palladium on 15 March 2017 could see and hear this content. They also needed to put on a spectacular show without overspending on the charity event.
Drawing from their experience at the Palladium the previous year, the Blueprint and Anna Valley teams first focused on the video requirements – creating a “hero” LED screen centre stage built from 144 Unilumin 2.5mm panels to stand 4.32m tall and 7.68m wide. They chose projection for the repeater screens with 2 x Christie HD 14k and two backups projecting on to screens either side of the stage.
What set the show apart from previous year’s visual design was the unique use of hybrid 18mm screens on the stage. Fourteen 0.6mx4.8m hybrid columns, suspended at different heights from the fly bars above the stage, were used to create different moods and environments throughout the show. By splitting the video and lighting inputs to the 112 panels, the teams gave the lighting designer, Mark Jones, the freedom to use the screens as part of his lighting plot and generate a variety of different looks through 5376 channels. By hanging these columns on the Palladium fly bars, the production team could move the screens up and down into different configurations, adding a dynamic element to the stage show.
“This year’s show was described as the best Celebrate Success Awards event to date because we used the technology to provide more on-screen value without spending more budget. While we have a very strong production design and technical understanding at Blueprint, often our ideas can’t be realised with off-the-shelf solutions. We rely on the Anna Valley team to figure out how to make our big ideas happen – and once again they rose to the challenge.”
